Posted on 30 April 2017
Classic, all American beauty Megan Samperi gives us the lowdown on her fitness & lifestyle tricks that keep her healthy & happy. We shot with Megan a few weeks back & she's about as down to earth as they come, is in amazing shape and is a lover of the outdoors. Our kinda girl...
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
Megan: Hey there, my name is Megan Samperi and I'm from Jupiter, Florida. It's a small, beautiful town engaged in boating, fishing, horseback riding, surfing, etc. Makes me miss home writing this ahhhh, but man do I love California! I studied Biology in college and once I finished I moved to California for modeling. It's always been my passion so I am chasing that dream, as well as traveling as much as I can because that's my fav ;)
How did you get into modeling?
Megan: I started modeling when I was 16 but it was complicated since I was in high school. Also, I was turned down many times especially since it's very difficult in Miami unlike in California. There are so many opportunities here, it's amazing! I would have to say that I definitely tried hard to get where I am today in this industry, and I'm darn proud of it.
What do you do to prepare health/fitness wise when you know you have a big shoot coming up?
Megan: Health and fitness are very significant in my life. I consistently eat organic, non gmo, and mostly gluten free food. I love to cook and I always use coconut oil and apple cider vinegar when doing so. Of course, we all have those days where we stuff our face with pizza and ice cream, but that's not a daily thing for me lol. I workout every other day at the gym amongst many outdoor activities. That booty and core are important ladies! Eating well and working out not only makes you look better; it makes you feel better thus leading to a happy lifestyle and longevity.
Any beauty supplements or vitamins you take regularly?
Megan: Most of the foods and beverages I consume are packed with vitamins and minerals. For example: goji berries, cacao nibs, matcha, kombucha, etc...I could go on and on haha. Eat your greens and fruits! Drinks loads of water! I can't say it enough...they are very beneficial to the body and skin. Research, research, research!
What’s your favorite way to de-stress?
Megan: I don't really have a favorite way to de-stress, but if I was to de-stress I would go to the bar..just kidding! Lol. I would workout, hike, beach it, take a bath, shop (but then you're broke and stress lol), hang with friends...many things. If I had a horse I would definitely go for a run on the beach! Definitely working out (boxing) helps me de-stress.
What does your normal workout schedule look like?
Megan: Depending on my schedule, I workout every other day and I workout a bit of everything, but I focus mainly on my butt and core. Diet plays a major role in your body when it comes to working out. You can't eat horribly and workout because you won't see much change.
Favorite thing to eat on the go?
Megan: A great quick snack would have to be apple and raw almond butter. Mmm! If I'm in a rush I always grab a snack bar. Either a protein bar or a green energy bar. Make sure they contain ingredients that are non toxic to that sexy bod of yours.
Any beauty products you can't live without?
Megan: I would have to say that Dr. Bronners soap is killer. You notice a difference in your skin right away because the ingredients are healthy. Same goes with coffee scrub. I use coffee scrub (Frank or I make my own) once a week, getting rid of all those impurities. Coffee scrub works wonders. I also am big on essential oils like lavender, grapefruit and tea tree. They work so well because they are natural and pure. Tea tree oil is good for break outs (bacteria), grapefruit is good for stretch marks and impurities, and lavender is good for calming and soothing. Such good stuff!
The Next Native is a brand very much about getting outdoors - What is your favorite place to travel & why?
Megan: I have to say that I have not been to my favorite place yet lol. How am I to know? I am a wanderer and all I want to do is go everywhere. I am heading to Bali soon and I feel like that's my favorite place, but I haven't even been yet! Haha. Anything different, jungly and tropical is my fav. Then again, I enjoy anything and am always up for anything! Spontaneity is key!
